Non-Profit Credit Counseling

American Credit Card Solutions recognizes the value of credit education and behavior modification that can be provided through either a Debt Resolution or Credit Counseling program. Credit education provides you with tips, tools, and advice for how to make smart decisions when using credit, so that you don't find yourself struggling with overwhelming debt again later.

Credit Counseling encourages you to make continued monthly debt payments by setting up a plan that can reward you with lower interest rates on your individual creditor accounts, along with only having to make one consolidated monthly payment. Unlike Debt Resolution, however, there's no principal reduction involved in a Credit Counseling plan, so you'll have to pay 100 percent of what you owe.

On the other hand, because you're making an effort to pay off your full debt by enrolling in a credit counseling program (rather than trying to negotiate a lower payoff amount, as in a Debt Resolution), your creditors may be more open to arranging different, more manageable repayment terms, such as lower monthly payments or interest rates. And by sticking to your credit counseling Credit Counseling plan, you can put an end to late fees and over-the-limit fees on those unsecured debts that you enroll. When you enroll in a credit counseling Credit Counseling plan, the credit counseling servicer may be able to negotiate with your creditors for benefits that a Debt Resolution program may not be able to provide:

  1. Interest-rate reductions
  2. No late fees
  3. No over-the-limit fees
  4. Additional help with bringing your accounts current

A Credit Counseling Plan may have less of a negative impact on your credit, but it will also offer less monthly payment relief than a Debt Resolution Plan. Remember, the goal in a Credit Counseling Plan is to reduce the amount of time it takes to pay off your outstanding unsecured debt, NOT to reduce the amount you pay on a monthly basis. Therefore, if you are currently making minimum payments to your creditors and still struggling, Credit Counseling may not be the best solution for you. Call one of our Debt Specialists to work through your options.

When you enroll in a Credit Counseling plan, your credit counseling servicer will consolidate the individual monthly payments on your qualifying unsecured debt into a single monthly Credit Counseling payment. You only need to make one monthly payment toward your Credit Counseling program, and the servicer will distribute the money from that payment to your creditors on your behalf. Your monthly enrolled debts get paid, and you only have one monthly payment to worry about.

For some people, Credit Counseling may be a better option than Debt Resolution. Our Debt Specialists will work with you to find a debt relief option that can help solve your debt problems now, so that you may prevent more debt problems in the future.
